   Corning Community College launches chapter of leadership honor society

This fall Corning Community College, which is located in Corning, New York, launched a chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success. Ninety-four students were invited based on merit to complete the steps of the program that lead to induction in the society.

On Wednesday, November 4th, Jesse Eisenberg, author, actor and playwright, spoke to the National Society of Leadership and Success during the Live Speaker Broadcast, which streamed out of New Jersey City University. Eisenberg discussed his career path and also his newest book, "Bream Gives Me Hiccups," which is a collection of fiction short stories.

"I've always just written, usually as a way to express myself," Eisenberg said. "If I feel uncomfortable in a situation I can put it in a fiction story and somehow express myself and have a cathartic experience."

   National Society of Leadership comes to ENMU

The Society comes to ENMU with its newly established chapter at ENMU-Ruidoso. The chapter held its first ever orientation and had about 40 new members in attendance. The first formal Induction Ceremony for the chapter will take place on December 11th.

   NBC's Al Roker visits NJCU, says admitting mistakes is part of success

On Tuesday, October 6th, 2015, the Society welcomed Al Roker as its first Live Speaker Broadcast of the academic year. Roker’s talk on leadership and heroism, which was broadcasted live from New Jersey City University, inspired Society members from all across the nation who tuned in for the live event. 
"A good leader adapts in volatile situations and that you adapt and you change and most importantly you admit when you're wrong," said Roker.

The National Society of Leadership and Success along with New Jersey City University are sponsoring three celebrity speakers at NJCU this fall. The first of the three free events, which are open to the public, is this Tuesday, October 6th featuring Al Roker.
Actor Jesse Eisenberg, who starred in "The Social Network" and "Zombieland," will speak at NJCU on November 4th, followed by actor, comedian and producer John Leguizamo who will speak on November 10th.

   UAFS Students Renovate Vet’s Home

Society members from the chapter at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith joined forces with the Student Veterans Organization for a community service project renovating the house of a disabled veteran. Due to a recent diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, a Marine Corps veteran is now confined to a wheelchair. The UAFS students spent a weekend renovating the veteran’s house wheelchair accessible.
“The structural changes were a big help for him, but I think he appreciated the personal touch of us being there and helping him and cooking for him,” said Shelby Osbourne, President of the Society chapter at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.

   NSLS Awarding Scholarships

The Society is now accepting applications for the Fall 2015 Scholarships and Awards Program. Eligible members from any chapter may apply online through Saturday, October 31st, 2015. More than $200 thousand is available to members nationwide for the 2015-2016 academic year.
 “Deciding to return to Panama with the non-profit organization, Global Brigades, has been one of the greatest decisions of my life,” said Julia Carter, former Global Leader award recipient.


   Leadership organization helps with West Point grad’s healing after war

Anthony V. Martinez, West Point graduate & executive board member for the Society chapter at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, joined Fort Hood’s Warrior Transition Brigade and got involved in a leadership position as a means of healing after the war. This week we would like to share with you a news story about Martinez, by Herald staff writer JC Jones, highlighting how he went from being a lieutenant, captain, commander, and then post-traumatic stress disorder victim to being a peer mentor and a leader who makes a better world.

   ASEAC joins National Society of Leadership and Success

Eastern Arizona College (EAC) welcomes the National Society of Leadership and Success and brought the organization to campus in Spring of 2015. The new Society chapter at EAC, which is led by English faculty member Mary Birdsall and co-advised by theatre faculty member Steven Higginbotham, held its first-ever induction ceremony on April 25th, 2015.

The Society chapter at Dean College held its graduation ceremony on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in the Guidrey Center on campus. The chapter graduated 130 students, which was the largest group they have had to date. To see pictures from this even, continue to the full article.
